GIOVANNA GIL ALVES

"For me, art is a constant act of exploration, a way to reconnect with that creative spark we all carry within, but which is sometimes silenced by the demands of daily life. Each work I create is an invitation to rediscover that artistic side we all possess, to reflect on life, and to connect with our deepest emotions."

Giovanna Gil Alves is a Uruguayan-Spanish artist whose work encompasses painting, drawing, ceramics, and illustration. She has always believed that everyone is born an artist. However, society, the environment, and daily needs often distance people from their creative side. Since childhood, art has been her refuge and most authentic form of expression. Her artistic journey has not been linear but rather a series of discoveries, moments of courage, and decisions that have allowed her to reconnect with her true passion. At the age of 22, she made a radical change in her life, leaving behind her studies in construction and her career in architecture to fully devote herself to art. This change was an act of courage and an affirmation of her commitment to the creative path.

Her work has an autobiographical focus, as each piece reflects a part of her, her emotions, and her process of personal evolution. Ceramics, drawing, painting, and illustration are her means to explore her surroundings, memories, and experiences, and to reconnect with the essence of what it means to be human. She is inspired by everything around her: people, nature, and everyday moments, which she transforms into shapes, colors, and textures that seek to tell a story beyond the visible.

Throughout her artistic career, she strives to perfect her technique and creative expression by participating in workshops and courses both nationally and internationally. Each learning experience has enriched her artistic vision and allowed her to explore new ways of representing her inner world through her works. In her studio, located in the comfort of her home, she immerses herself in a world of creativity and passion.

She has been awarded the Declaration of Cultural Interest by the Ministry of Education and Culture of Uruguay since 2023 and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for her exhibitions abroad.

One of her great passions also lies in writing. She is the author of several books, including "I Have Realized" in 2018, "360" in 2019, and "How to Become an Artist and Make Your Gift a Profession" in 2023.

In addition to her individual works, she has also participated in global anthologies such as "Poems of Love and Peace" and "1 Story 1 Smile," demonstrating her versatility and commitment to literature at an international level.

Being an artist in such a competitive and selfish world is a constant challenge, where many prefer to criticize rather than provide opportunities. Despite everything, she is fortunate to have clarity in her goals; she knows what she wants and where she is headed. She does not get distracted by what happens around her; she simply follows her own path, seeking her own light and avoiding unnecessary distractions.

For her, art is a constant act of exploration, a way to reconnect with that creative spark everyone carries within, but which is sometimes silenced by the demands of daily life. Each work she creates is an invitation to rediscover that artistic side everyone possesses, to reflect on life, and to connect with their deepest emotions. Today, her art continues to be an endless journey of self-discovery, where each new creation allows her to keep growing, exploring, and, above all, sharing with the world a part of herself. For her, art is more than a discipline: it is a way of living, of being present, and of being true to who we really are.
